Green and Healthy Homes Initiative

Clear-Win Program“Green and Healthy” is a new standard in housing policy. Currently, services such as improving energy efficiency, lead abatement, health hazard remediation, and safer pest control measures, are delivered by separate entities. Coordinating these services makes sense, and efforts are underway in Chicago to help make this happen.

The Chicago Green and Healthy Homes Initiative promotes a holistic approach to creating healthy and green homes through service co-delivery. Chicago GHHI is linked to the national Green and Healthy Homes Initiative which promotes a cost-effective and integrated approach to housing interventions by combining federal and philanthropic investments in energy efficiency, health and safety.

Residents, service providers, building owners, the community and the local government all have a role in obtaining green and healthy housing. By building upon existing programs that aim to improve housing’s energy efficiency, structural quality, and the health of residents, new opportunities for joint program and service delivery should emerge.

CNT Energy is excited and proud to assist in organizing Chicago’s Green and Healthy Homes Initiative. It is a natural outgrowth of our core programs and commitment to sustainability. Innovative partnerships with local officials, utilities, contractors and financial institutions allow us to effectively serve as the point-of-contact for coordinating organizational alliances, stakeholder activities, service co-delivery research, and aligning Chicago GHHI with national goals.
