ComEd RRTP

The ComEd Residential Real-Time Pricing (RRTP) program is an hourly pricing program for residential customers. This program allows households to pay the hourly, wholesale market price for electricity.

With ComEd’s standard fixed-rate service, there is a set price for your electricity supply. This price varies by season, and is adjusted periodically, but it does not change from hour to hour or from day to day. Households are charged the same price for electricity no matter what time of day or which day it is used.

The program began in January 2007. CNT Energy managed the pilot project, the Energy-Smart Pricing Plan, that contributed to the early success of ComEd’s Residential Real-Time Pricing program. Throughout 2008 and 2009, CNT Energy has been a consultant to the program while providing a local and vocal presence for the program around the Chicagoland area.
